Community Wins
Charity of the year
Each year the CVNC supports a local charity. In May, the Community Wins Committee identifies four potential local charities, and the new executive picks one. For 2023/24, MARS Wildlife Rescue Center was chosen.
During the year, the Committee works with the selected charity, finding out what is most helpful to them. The Community Wins Committee may take part in any Newcomers’ event to raise funds on behalf of our charity, such as 50/50 draws at monthly meetings.
Members may be asked for in-kind donations or to participate in volunteering opportunities, with the Committee keeping members informed through the monthly meetings and in our newsletter.
At the end of our fiscal year, the Community Wins Committee presents the charity with a cheque for the funds raised.
