Charity of the year
Each year the CVNC supports a local charity. In May, the Community Wins Committee identifies four potential local charities, and the new executive picks one. This year, Comox Valley Transition Society was chosen.
During the year, the Committee works with the selected charity, finding out what is most helpful to them. Various fund-raising activities take place such as a 50/50 draw when in-person meetings are possible, and this year, a Silent Auction at our Zoom Christmas Party.
The Community Wins Committee may take part in any Newcomers’ event to raise funds on behalf of the charity. They may ask the members for in-kind donations or to volunteer. They keep members informed at the monthly meetings and in the newsletter and website Club News.
In June, the Community Wins Committee presents the charity with a cheque for the funds raised.
